From the early days of air travel, the postage stamp was released to record important events in aviation history. Commemorative stamps in honour of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have helped widen interest in aeronautical philately as more and more postal administrations around the world are issuing stamps highlighting civil aviation, its achievements and facilities. A selection of the most representative stamps, directly related to ICAO, allows presenting a brief history of aviation in seven chapters. Au fil des ans, la plupart des administrations postales ont émis des timbres sur le thème de l’aviation, et particulièrement de l’aviation civile, contribuant ainsi à développer l’intérêt pour la philatélie aéronautique. Parmi ces timbres, ceux qui ont été émis en l’honneur de l’Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale (OACI) servent à la faire mieux connaître.
