STAMP ISSUES RELATED TO ICAO (1994-1995)

Background: For both stamps of this issue and the first day cover, the Organization’s name is printed with s instead of z. The correct name is: International Civil Aviation Organization.

Both stamps are printed on watermarked paper, multiple JEZ sideways (watermark #368, according to Scott catalogue).

 

Qatar Airways was established on 22 November 1993 and operations started on 20 January 1994. By this time, the fleet consisted of two Airbus A310s leased from Airbus Leasing.

 

Philatelic notice. In the official name of ICAO, the word Organization is spelled with the letter “z” instead of “s”.
