The other two stamps of this issue commemorate the 1994 International Year of the Family and the 75th Anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO; see more details on the ILO at the following link: ICAO and the International Labour Organization).
The International Year of the Family, 1994, was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 44/82 of 9 December 1989. The family constitutes the basic unit of society and therefore warrants special attention. Hence, the widest possible protection and assistance should be accorded to families so that they may fully assume their responsibilities within the community Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237, the International Day of Families or IDF is observed on 15 May every year and reflects the importance that the international community attaches to families as basic units of society as well as its concern regarding their situation around the world. |
