Details of the emblem:

The full name of the Organization (International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO) is translated in Greek by: ΔΙΕΘΝΗΣ ΟΡΓΑΝΩΣΗ ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗΣ ΑΕΡΟΠΟΡΙΑΣ; thus, the acronym Δ.Ο.Π.Α. (with a dot between each letter) found in the emblem, to the right of the digits 50. The acronym ICAO is shown at the left of those digits.

From the marginal inscription, the words ΚYΠΡIAKH ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ mean REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS in English or RÉPUBLIQUE CHYPRIOTE in French.

Lower right corner block of 4 stamps.

 

 

Variety: orange dot to the right of figure 30 of the stamp at left (see arrow).

Official First Day Cover, with “TIMHƩ ENEKEN” “COMPLIMENTARY” hand-stamp applied by the Cyprus Postal Services. TIMHƩ ENEKEN literally translated means PRICE HONORARY or COMPLIMENTARY.

First day illustrated card (20.5x15 cm) with full description on obverse and chart of the Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR) as shown on the stamp. 2,200 Cards were printed; serial number on the back; stamp and card designed by George Simonis, under the auspices of the Cyprus Philatelic Society.

 

Philatelic card designed by S. Hadjimichael with full description on obverse - Airbus A310-231 of Cyprus Airways, registered 5B-DAT in Cyprus - Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR). 4,200 cards were printed – Hand-stamped control number – Size: 31.5x21.5cm.

 

Philatelic notice – Error in the French Text: in the official name of the Organization (Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale), only the first word is capitalized.
